You can also get to the international circuit Formula 1 of Montmelo in about 15 minutes, or to the famous Water World theme park in 40 minutes.
You can also enjoy a delicious dinner in the picturesque village of Tossa de Mar in less than a 50 minutes. Another interesting aspect to bear in mind is that our guests will appreciate Santa Maria de Palautordera because shopping in the village is cheaper than in the rest of the Costa Brava or Barcelona city itself.
Welcome to Villa Maria, a charming jewel very closed to Barcelona.
My name is Elisabeth. I am a filmmaker and together with my brothers David, Maria and Jeannette we took care of renting the family home that was the scene of many happy moments in our childhood. We all speak English, French, German, Spanish and Catalan fluently. My family and I wish to welcome you to our home.
A lot of important gatherings, such as weddings, birthdays and business events, have taken place in the villa since and we now relish the idea of someone else enjoying the place just as much as we have done in the past.
My favourite things in the world include films, meeting new people, modern art, learning new languages, a good debate over a delicious mean and so on! During the day, I work in the entertainment industry and I also teach in a film academy in Barcelona. During the weekend, I love to spend my time with my family and friends and to enjoy the Spanish beautiful weather!
I shall be very happy to welcome people who love nature and appreciate Montseny’s peace and quiet. If there is anything I can do to make your stay more enjoyable please do not hesitate to ask.
Santa Maria de Palautordera is a typical Catalan little town of 8,614 inhabitants located in the province of Barcelona. The town is in the east of the Vallès Oriental area and is located at the base of Montseny mountains. The township can be easily visited by bus, train or car. The village can be a stop-off as part of a tour to escape from noisy and hectic city life. In the main street of the village which is called "Rambla", you can enjoy eating ‘tapas’ (typically Spanish snacks), going to a coffee shop, or even shopping and all sort of facilities can also be found there.
The village is very close to the only Catalan park to be declared a Biosphere Reserve by the Unesco. Every Saturday, you can visit a biological market and taste our regional culinary specialities, wines and cheese produced by our talented farmers. In the summer, temperatures often soar to 30–40 °C (86–104 °F). It is the perfect weather to discover our local festivals, riding schools, permanent circus CIRC and the various walking routes within the township as well as Montseny natural park.
Montseny Natural Park is situated on the coast of the Catalan mountain range, which is the highest peak. It covers an area of 31,063.94 hectares, and it spreads over eighteen municipalities in three regions (Osona, Vallés Oriental and La Selva). This natural park is the oldest park in Catalonia, it is also one of the largest natural conservation areas and it is ecologically diverse. In the forest of Montseny, you can find a lot of wild life such as wild boars, foxes, fish and many other species.
Montseny rises above the plane of Vallés, Osona and La Selva counties, and beautiful views can be enjoyed from the mountain range. Some other well-known local areas to be found include Mont Signus (Sign Mountain) and the stunning lake of Santa Fe. They are all wonderful areas to go to if you love nature and life outdoors. Santa Maria de Palautordera is also a good place for daily trekking with experienced guides during the week and weekend.
